About Jeroen Alexander Meijer

Jeroen Alexander Meijer was the winner of the iii Residency Award for 2022, for the ambition expressed by and for the potential for future development that we see in the immersive audiovisual installation Ouroboros. Jeroen Alexander Meijer is an interdisciplinary light and sound artist who navigates psychology, philosophy and cognitive science to create interactive experiences that help us become aware of the mysterious properties of our attention.

Ouroboros is an immersive instrument with the ability to envelop without overwhelming. We were impressed by the scale of the work and by the potential of the instrument to create multi sensory compositions with sound, light, space and touch. Ouroboros strikes a goodbalance between obtaining our attention with the attraction of a spectacle while also leaving us enough freedom to explore the sensory space that it creates.

In the autumn of 2022 Jeroen will be able to spend valuable time learning how to play and compose with this newly created audiovisual instrument in the 200 m2 black box project space available at iii workspace.
