This issue of Neural is co-edited by Matteo Marangoni, reflecting on our Oscillations EU exchange programme. For this issue iii also commissioned Kexin Hao to produce a limited edition riso print of Liminal Wild: Live, which is exclusively for Neural subscribers.
Negotiating Values is a special issue of Neural that emerged from the international exchange programme Oscillations, Exercises in Resilience. Exploring the tension between sonic and visual art forms from the makers’ perspective, the programme has supported the circulation of artists working with sound across national and disciplinary boundaries between 2020 and 2023, and encouraged the exchange of knowledge between artist-run spaces. The programme was a collaboration between Overtoon in Brussels (BE), instrument inventors initiative (iii) in The Hague (NL), bb15 in Linz (AT) and Lydgalleriet in Bergen (NO). It has supported 49 artists in researching and creating new artworks which have been presented in over 60 public presentations including exhibitions, performances and workshops.
